Questions
Where do the exchange rates come from?
Reference rates published by the European Central Bank, fetched through the open Frankfurter API. They are updated once per working day around 16:00 CET, so they don’t move during the day like live market prices.
Will my bank use the same rate?
Usually not exactly. Banks, card networks and exchange offices add a margin or fees on top of the reference rate, so treat the result as a close estimate rather than a quote.
What happens if the rate service is down?
The converter uses the most recent rates our server has cached and clearly labels them as possibly out of date. If no rates are available at all, it tells you instead of showing made-up numbers.
