How to use OBD-II Code Lookup

  1. Enter a five-character code such as P0420.
  2. Read system/allocation and a description where covered.
  3. Use vehicle-specific service information for diagnosis and manufacturer-specific codes.

Questions

Is this a complete database?

No. The pinned CC0 subset contains P0171, P0172, P0300, P0301, P0420, P0430 and P0442. Other valid codes get structure information and an explicit missing-description notice.

Are all second digits generic or manufacturer-specific?

No. Zero generally indicates standardized allocation and one manufacturer-specific. P2 is standardized; other ranges vary, so this tool does not invent a universal rule for every P/B/C/U range.

Does a code identify the failed part?

No. It names a detected condition, not its root cause or a repair recommendation. No code, filename or result is sent to analytics.
