How to use Spreadsheet Editor
- Open an XLSX, CSV or TSV file, or start editing the blank workbook.
- Use the ribbon and cell context menus to format, calculate, sort and organize your sheets.
- Download XLSX to keep sheets and formatting, or CSV/TSV for the active sheet. Inspect complex Excel workbooks after export.
Questions
Are files uploaded?
No. Parsing, editing, calculation and export run locally. Recovery uses browser IndexedDB and OPFS, with a 24-hour inactivity deadline.
Is this fully compatible with Excel?
No. Common formulas, cell formatting, merges and worksheet operations are supported. Charts, pivots, advanced formulas and embedded objects may not display or calculate here. Original workbook parts are retained where possible; structural changes can affect references in unsupported features. Check the exported workbook in its original application.
Can I open XLS or macros?
Use macro-free XLSX, CSV or TSV. Legacy XLS, XLSM, encrypted workbooks and macros are not supported.
What are the size limits?
Files are limited to 25 MB, 250,000 populated cells and 100,000 imported rows. Expanded ZIP data is bounded. Available browser memory may impose lower limits, particularly on phones.
What survives CSV export?
CSV and TSV contain the active sheet’s values. They cannot preserve formatting, multiple sheets or workbook features.
