Drawing: arrows move the cell cursor; Space paints, E erases. Pixel tools also use P pencil, F fill and I eyedropper. Ctrl/⌘ Z undoes, Ctrl/⌘ Shift Z redoes. Tilemap Pan or Shift-drag scrolls the viewport. Touch and keyboard share the same state.

How to use Tilemap Editor

  1. Choose canvas/settings or import local PNG, JPEG or WebP sources. The current project is kept if an import fails.
  2. Use the focused workspace, touch controls and bounded settings. Review the live preview.
  3. Export locally. Edits save durable recovery; returning to this app restores it.

Questions

How does Tilemap Editor work?

Import a tile sheet, choose a square tile size and paint one layer on a 1–64 cell grid per side. Up to 256 complete source tiles are supported. Pan, zoom, erase, undo and export tile-index JSON or a PNG preview. PNG output is limited to 20 megapixels; JSON contains logical tile indices and dimensions, not the source image.

Where does my work go?

Images and projects stay browser-local in IndexedDB and, for larger sources, OPFS. Meaningful edits autosave; unchanged image blobs are content-deduplicated. Recovery expires after 24 hours without edits, pressure cleanup protects active projects, and these creator apps restore only on their own routes. Navigation offers Stay, Leave & keep, or Leave & delete; deletion must succeed before navigation. Refresh, crashes, closing the browser and downloads retain recovery.
