How to use Citation Generator
- Pick the citation style and the type of source.
- Enter the details, or paste a DOI / ISBN and press Look up.
- Copy the reference (italics included) and the in-text citation; add it to your list.
Formula & assumptions
- Titles are used as you type them: APA uses sentence case for article and book titles; MLA, Chicago and Harvard use title case.
- Authors: one per line as “Last, First” (or “First Last”). Put organisations in braces: {World Health Organization}.
Questions
Will it fill in missing details for me?
No. It formats exactly what you enter (or what the DOI/ISBN record contains). Missing parts are left out, or marked the way the style requires — for example “n.d.” in APA when there is no date. Always check the result against your source.
Which edition of each style is used?
APA 7th edition, MLA 9th edition, Chicago 17th edition (bibliography entries), Harvard as described in Cite Them Right, and IEEE reference style.
What is sent when I look up a DOI or ISBN?
Only the identifier, directly from your browser to Crossref (DOIs) or Open Library (ISBNs). Pevlika’s server is not involved and nothing is stored.
