Formula & assumptions

  • Nothing is recorded or uploaded — the test runs entirely in your browser.

Questions

Why does the meter stay flat?

Check that the right microphone is selected, that it isn’t muted (a hardware switch or the system sound settings) and that no other app is holding it exclusively.

Is my recording uploaded?

No. The clip is kept in your browser’s memory only so you can play it back, and it disappears when you leave the page.

What level is good?

Normal speech should peak in the green-to-yellow range (around −20 to −6 dB). Constant red means it is too loud and may distort.
