How to use Speaker & Headphone Test

  1. Lower your volume, then raise it gradually.
  2. Play Left, Center and Right — the sound should come only from that side.
  3. Try the sweep, bass and phase tests to check range and wiring.

Formula & assumptions

  • Start with a low volume — test tones can be loud, especially in headphones.

Questions

Left and right are swapped — what now?

Check how the headphones are worn (the L/R markings), the cable or Bluetooth device, and any “swap channels” or mono audio setting in your system accessibility options.

How do I use the phase test?

In phase, the tone sounds centred and full. Out of phase it sounds hollow and hard to place; if the “in phase” one sounds like that instead, one speaker is wired backwards.

Why can’t I hear the highest frequencies?

Most adults can’t hear above 15–17 kHz, and many small speakers can’t reproduce very low bass. That’s normal.
