Questions
How accurate is a phone decibel meter?
Expect ±5 dB or more without calibration. Phone microphones are tuned for speech and may limit very loud or quiet sounds. The browser’s noise suppression and automatic gain are switched off where the device allows it.
What is Leq?
The equivalent continuous level: the steady level with the same total sound energy as the varying sound you measured. It is the standard way to average decibels.
Is the audio recorded or uploaded?
No. Only the loudness is calculated, in real time, on your device.
