Is image quality reduced?

Not for JPEG and PNG: only the metadata sections are removed and the image data is copied byte for byte. Other formats are re-saved by your browser.

Will the photo still be the right way up?

The orientation tag is part of EXIF, so Pevlika rotates JPEGs that need it by redrawing them, which re-compresses those files at high quality. Most photos are unaffected.
