How to use Integral Calculator
Type a function of x. Leave the limits empty for an antiderivative, or enter them for a definite integral and its area.
- Type the integrand, for example x e^x or 1/(x^2 - 1).
- Optionally enter lower and upper limits.
- Read the antiderivative (+ C) or the exact/numeric value, with the methods used.
Questions
Is every answer checked?
Yes. Each antiderivative is differentiated and compared with your function at several points before it is shown. If no verified antiderivative is found, a definite integral is computed numerically with adaptive Simpson’s rule.
Why can’t it integrate e^(x²)?
Some functions, such as e^(x²) or sin(x)/x, have no antiderivative made of elementary functions. Their definite integrals can still be computed numerically.
What happens with a singularity, such as 1/x from −1 to 1?
The calculator detects that the function is undefined inside the interval and reports that the integral does not converge as written.
