Questions

What should the values be at rest?

Lying flat, the Z axis shows about 9.8 m/s² (1 g, gravity) and X and Y stay near 0. Without gravity, all three should be close to 0.

Why are there no readings on my laptop?

Most computers have no accelerometer. Use a phone or tablet; desktops will show a clear “no sensor” message.

Why does iPhone ask for permission?

iOS requires you to allow “Motion & Orientation Access” for each site. You can change it later in Safari’s website settings.
