How HEX to RGB works

A hex color is three pairs of hexadecimal digits for red, green and blue. Each pair (00–FF) converts to a number from 0 to 255.

#RRGGBB → rgb(R, G, B)

Example: #FF6347 → FF = 255, 63 = 99, 47 = 71 → rgb(255, 99, 71)

Questions

How do I convert HEX to RGB?

Split the six hex digits into three pairs and convert each pair from base 16 to decimal: #0F766E → 0F = 15, 76 = 118, 6E = 110, so rgb(15, 118, 110).

What about 3-digit hex codes?

Short codes double each digit: #F60 is the same as #FF6600, which is rgb(255, 102, 0).
